Self care brought to you by your therapist. Many of my client's will ask me what they should do for self care. The key to self care is that no two people have the same recipe for self care. It should be created by you for you. Think about the activities you have done in the past that brought you joy or a moment of happiness and if you haven't done it in a while make some time to do that activity.
If you find yourself feeling empty and drained make time for yourself. You deserve your time more than anyone. Yes more than your spouse, children, and family. When we are drained we cannot give our best to anyone we love. This is why it is important to make time to fill your emotional tank so that your interactions with others is full of your best.
And if you don't have any activities that you enjoy have no fear there is no time like the present to try some out. There are so many activities to try. Even if you do have activities that you like trying new activities can be an adventure as well. You can bring a friend to try a new activity which can strengthen your relationship or you can create new friendships. Life is meant to be experienced and enjoyed because we only get one.
