The world has become a melting pot and along with that comes the interchange of languages. I for one am blessed to speak both English and Spanish as a Latinx therapist. Some of us have an interest in learning various languages but many of us struggle with speaking out own language. Our bodies use our feelings as a way to communicate our needs and desires to us. So if you are feeling anxious chances are your body needs to feel safe, and if you are sad your body needs to feel comforted.By tuning into our body cues during regular self inventories we can better assist ourselves in meeting our own needs as well as being able to regulate our emotions.
Our bodies are designed to react to the world around us as a way of survival so it will give us indications. If we are angry are bodies can get hot or tense up. If we are sad we see tears and feel a knot in out throats. If we are scared or anxious often times our heart rate and pulse will accelerate while feeling like we have an elephant on our chest. Identifying these emotions is the first step in providing for our bodies needs. Once we identify the emotion we can identify the coping strategy that will help us heal.
Also I love fandoms and Nerdy things so it was so enjoyable for me to use my funky pop of Ciri to illustrate the various emotions and how they manifest in the body. I think we can learn so much about ourselves through some of our favorite characters. Siri's power is connected to her emotional dysregulation like her mother if they get angry or feel a strong emotions things take place. Ciri has yelled and caused the earth to split and she has open portals into other worlds. I'll be interested in seeing if part of her developing her power means she has to face her own traumas like Yennifer.
